Creative WebCam Driver download
This is one of my first reviews and I don't really know how to get started :p
Well today I'll review the Creative Webcam (PD1001), It's a very cheap cam , it costs around $25 , but for this price you get a very good cam.
Features :
Video resolutions from 160x120 to 352x288 at up to 30 fps.
Still images at 352x288 plus handy Snapshot button.
Fast, easy installation via USB 1.1 interface.
Advanced CMOS sensor (352x288 resolution) for crisp, clear images.
WebCam™ Control software controls camera settings, snapshots, video and storage and retrieval of images.
Other bundled software for video editing, conferencing and other applications.
System requirements :
IBM® compatible Personal Computer
233MHz Pentium®, AMD® Athlon™ ® processor or higher
64MB RAM
Windows® 98, 2000, Me or XP
Available USB connector and CD-ROM drive
Display adapter capable of 16-bit colour at 640x480
Internet Access, Sound Card and microphone required for videoconferencing
Installation & software :
The installation of this cam is very easy , you only need the install the drivers of the card , reboot your pc, and stick'em in :p
The following software is bundled with the cam :
Video Blaster® WebCam™ Control
Ulead Photo Express 4.0 My Custom Edition
Video Blaster® WebCam™ Monitor
PixMaker™ & PixScreen™
Creative™ Media Ring Talk
I don't use much of the software, only the Webcam Control panel, witch is a nice simple program to make a little pic or a videoclip. The only thing that bugs me is that it is sometimes very slow , although this could be the fault of my pc (only a P3 450MHz).
The Webcam :
Build quality :
The cam is very light but that's not a problem because it stands stable on top of my monitor J The cam can be turned to the left/right and up/down on his blue feet
Image quality :
The image quality of this cam is very good only the quality of snapshots is a bit less sometimes , but I expected it to be worse because of the very low price of this cam. The only problem I had with that with the original drivers the image was sometimes over lighted , but with the newest drivers witch are released on 09/08/2002 the problem is solved.
Pro's : good image quality
cheap ( around $25 )
light & small
Con's :
The Webcam Control seems to be slow sometimes on slow systems
Conclusion :
The Creative Webcam (PD1001) is a very good and cheap cam ;
The max resolution of is 352*288@30fps and I think the image quality is very good for his price (only +-$25)
So if you're looking for a cheap & good webcam , you can give this cam a try !
